Weapons are gear. Noctis can equip up to four of any kind of weapon, while the rest of the party can equip two. Ignis specializes in daggers and polearms, Gladio in greatswords and shields, and Prompto in firearms and machinery. Spells are considered weapons and are equipped in weapon slots; they can be equipped and used by any member of the party.

- Back + Attack: Noctis will step away from the target and throw his daggers for a ranged attack; creating enough distance between Noctis and the target by continuing to hold Back + Attack will prompt Noctis to perform a dropkick.

Royal Arms[]
Special weapons fit for a king, each boasting its own unique properties. These weapons are incredibly powerful, but cost both MP and HP to wield. There are thirteen known royal arms, each enshrined at a royal tomb, though the location of only a few is known. Seven of the thirteen (marked here by an asterisk* in the OBTAIN column) are considered "unmissable," as their collection is integrated into the main story. Every royal arm the player has collected will appear when the Armiger is activated, and collecting all thirteen royal arms (and the Founder King's Sigil) in Windows or Royal Edition will allow Noctis to use Armiger Unleashed. The table below is organized by chronological availability, not by attack power (as the other tables are).
