Fishing is a skill unique to Noctis. This skill allows him to fish up ingredients for Ignis to cook. As he gains skill points in fishing, his fishing ability improves as well as the efficiency of his equipment.
Tackle[]
Fishing tackle is made up of line, lure, rod, and reel. All of these are purchasable at shops, though some lures, rods, and reels can only be earned through completing quests or winning them as a prize.
Lines[]
Lines are items whose durability decrease through use. Harder to catch fish wear out line durability faster. Increasing Noctis's fishing skill level decreases the rate of deterioration.
Line | Durability | Value | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Spider Silk | 1,000 | Buy: 30 | The standard fishing line, much loved by anglers all over the world. Straightforward, practical, and easy to use. |
Super Baleen | 1,500 | Buy: 100 | High-quality fishing line, specially treated to ensure durability. Aggressive anglers appreciate its increased resilience. |
Dragon's Beard | 2,000 | Buy: 500 | Fishing line of the highest quality, designed with durability in mind. Said to be sturdy enough to snag a dragon. |
Lures[]
Lures are items that increase the bite rate for certain fish. Some fish will only bite when a specific lure is equipped. Lures can be lost if the line durability decreases to zero and the hooked fish gets away.
Rods[]
Rods are items that increase Noctis's ability ("defense") to catch fish by resisting a fish's pull (which wears down the line). All types of lines, lures, and reels can be equipped to any rod.
